Reinventing Roots workshops
autobiographically decolonial performance making
The workshop explores the fictional documentary methodology. Through the perspective of the colonization of memory, on personal and urban levels, the process poses questions and performative challenges to hegemonic narrative constructions - embodied by ourselves and our communities -.
The participants have the opportunity to explore different ways of artistic doing, navigating into forms of interdisciplinary creation from performance, video and creative writing.
The thematic universe involves the participants' transgenerational roots - specially those which aren't possible to be tracked - by exploring fictions based on elements of reality to then test performance counter-actions/interventions.
A pedagogical focus is given to the safeguarding of an empathetic and sensitive space where the intersection of each other's fiction fragments become sources of reality complexification and beautification. Performative actions and exercises are orchestrated by groups and individuals.
